Qualified at King's College Hospital in 1984 as a Chartered Physiotherapist
Sue worked in the NHS to the level of Superintendent IV Physiotherapist, specialising in musculo-skeletal outpatients. She also took a couple of years out to travel around the globe, gaining more physiotherapy experience in Australia and New Zealand, and life experience playing at odd jobs such as deck-handing, waitressing, forestry control etc.
Sue has always been interested in sport, both as a working practitioner and a keen participant
Sue started working with athletes at Crystal Palace, having also worked with hockey, rugby, soccer, and badminton clubs, as well as Wessex & National Volleyball squads. Her main interest and expertise is in tennis. Sue has worked at Wimbledon, and travelled extensively around the world for the ITF and WTA (Women's Tennis Association), devising and setting up a therapeutic exercise programme for them. She also enjoys working with young up and coming atheletes and believes in good screening programmes, working towards prevention and performance as well as cure.
Sue lived in Cape Town whilst working for the WTA, finding some spare time to help rescue oil stricken penguins, literacy classes and house building in the townships and rescuing stray animals
At present Sue divides her work between the Abbey Clinic and BWT Physiotherapists in Poole, Dorset, as well the odd time away at various tennis events
Sue has always participated in an intense & varied continuing education programme. Her skill base includes joint mobilisations and manipulations, soft tissue treatments, electrotherapy, acupunctune, pilates and exercise programmes and their progression.
Sue still enjoys a varied sporting life outside of work, having not retired gracefully from anything, & feeling lucky that her body still allows her to do so! This includes first team hockey, badminton, tennis, canoeing, volleyball etc, as well as participating in the odd run and triathlon, having completed the London marathon in 1983 and 2005, and sailing across the atlantic in 2006. She is also making her first foray in thespianism with a small part in Much Ado About Nothing.
