Toby Pollard-Smith
Osteopathy, Sports Massage, Sports Injuries
5 (6 years massage) years experience
Qualifications: Osteopathy M.Ost, Sports Massage dip.LSSM, Registered BAPAM Practitioner and ONE Dance approved.
Toby was a professional ballet dancer, working with The Israel Ballet for several years, and subsequently completing two world tours with Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake. He has had his fair share of injuries and was always interested in treatment and rehab.
In 2008, he decided to switch careers, training at the British School of Osteopathy (now the University College of Osteopathy), from where he graduated in 2014 with distinction. He has also completed his sports massage training at the London School of Sports Massage.
Inevitably, Toby has an interest in the treatment of dancers and has had research published in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies. He is a Registered Practitioner for the British Association of Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM), as well as being recognised by One Dance UK and an active member of OPACA.
Toby uses a variety of osteopathic and soft tissue techniques and is constantly learning new methods of patient management in order to find the right "recipe" for each patient.
He uses a variety of gentle techniques and is constantly learning new methods of patient management in order to find the right "recipe" for each patient. He is also a JEMS practitioner like many of our physiotherapists, so perhaps straddles the gap between osteopathy and physiotherapy. We call him a “physiopath”!
He is married with two young daughters, loves music and cooking, swims regularly, and is often in his garden wishing his lawn was better.
